Here is an Antique Edo Period Hannya Mask that Kobayashi Sensei gave Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson, when she inherited the Tomo-ryu tradition. As you can see it was created from one piece of wood. This mask was passed from the Nakashima family, to Kobayashi Sensei, then to Soke Anshu.

Here, I’m teaching a lesson on makibishi, at the Budo Ryu Kai Hombu Dojo. The term makibishi (撒き菱 or 撒菱) refers to the Japanese version of the caltrop, which is a sharp spiked object that was used in feudal Japan to slow down pursuers and also was used in the defense of samurai fortifications.

I’m outside practicing some grounding/earthing
techniques!

Grounding/Earthing is when you make direct skin
contact with the Earth (bare feet, hands or other parts of your body). This
rebalances the electrical flow and connects your body to the natural electric
charge of the earth, transferring electrons into your body.

To name a few of the many benefits; some research
shows that soaking up electrons can lower inflammation, heals chronic injuries,
eases stress, as well as improves sleep!
