True
power is not found in the strength of the body alone, but in the
refinement of the spirit. Through meditation and disciplined cultivation
of one’s inner Ki, the practitioner learns to perceive the hidden
currents that flow through all things. When the KI within is brought
into harmony with the KI that exists beyond the self, barriers dissolve
and influence expands.
.
Those
who understand this principle do not struggle against the world—they
move with its unseen forces, bending circumstance, opportunity, and
destiny to their advantage. The wise know that mastery of the invisible
is often more potent than mastery of the visible, for the greatest
victories are won long before the conflict is seen by others.

Here, I am sharing some of the scrolls of the Tomo-ryu with a few of my most dedicated students.
.
As
the 21st Soke of Tomo-ryu, I feel this is more than just historical
importance, it is a responsibility. A Soke is not just an instructor,
but a bridge between the past and the present. My master entrusted me
with the preservation of the scrolls, densho and secrets of the ryuha.
.
The
Makimono and Densho of the Tomo Ryu are more than historical records.
Within their writings contain the strategies, principles, and esoteric
teachings preserved through generations of disciplined practitioners who
understood that wisdom loses its value when given freely.
.
Power
belongs to those capable of wielding its responsibly, so too are the
secrets of the tradition revealed only to those who have demonstrated
unwavering loyalty, dedication, and perseverance.
.
The
scrolls do not merely teach technique; they transmit a legacy,
connecting the student to the shadows of those who came before, ensuring
that the deeper mysteries of the tradition remain protected from the
curious and preserved for the committed.
.
Tradition
survives not through public recognition, but through the secret
transmission from teacher to student. In this way, the lineage remains
alive, not as a relic of the past, but as a weapon of wisdom carried
forward by those fierce enough to walk through the door to train and
carry on the tradition.

Here, I am with a Ninjutsu Densho from my private collection called the: Bansenshukai.
.
The
Bansenshukai (萬川集海) is an authentic ninjutsu manual written by
Fujibayashi Yasutake in 1676. It is regarded as one of the three key
historical texts of ninjutsu, along with the Shoninki and the Ninpiden.
The Bansenshukai translates out as: “Ten Thousand Rivers Flow Together
To Form An Ocean” and is regarded as the bible of ninjutsu.
.
“You
should embrace the old ways of the shinobi who served under ancient
great generals, but remember not only to keep these ways but to adapt
them, each dependent on the situation and the moment. Ignorant ninja are
not aware of this principal but directly stick to ancient ways and do
not even know the simplest of facts. It is folly to see something as
unchangeable and stick to an old method without realizing that things
keep changing and are in flux."

NINPIDEN (忍秘伝)
.
Here, I am with a Ninjutsu Densho from my private collection called the: Ninpiden. This is an official reproduction that was created from the original - which is located in the Iga Ninja Museum.
.
The Ninpiden (忍秘伝) is an authentic ninjutsu manual written by Hattori Hanzo in 1560. It is regarded as one of the three key historical texts of ninjutsu, along with the Shoninki and the Bansenshukai. It was passed down in the Hattori family, and was considered a secret transmission; it was not shared with outsiders and even within the family, few had access to it.
.
“When you go to another province on a secret mission, you may be inspected by the local people if they wonder who you are. Therefore, you need to disguise yourself when you go out so that you can move around and investigate without arousing suspicion about yourself.”
- Hattori Hanzo; Ninpiden (1560)

.
Here,
I am with a Ninjutsu Densho from my private collection called the:
Shoninki. This is an official reproduction that was created from the
original - which is located in the State Library of Tokyo.
.
The
Shōninki (正 忍 記) is a medieval ninja document from Kishū province. It
was written by Natori Masatake in 1681 and documents the
espionage/ninjutsu strategies of the shinobi from Kishū.
.
Together
with the Bansenshukai and Ninpiden it is one of three major extant
writings of the ninja that is researched today amoung historians and
researchers.
.
Shōninki is divided into Preface (Jo), and three scrolls (Shomaki, Chumaki, Gemaki).
.
In the preface, the author discusses the different types of spies and the principles of espionage.
.
The
first densho addresses basic skills, such as disguise and concealment
and information gathering. The second densho deals with defense against
enemy spies, human nature, physiognomy, recognizing and eliciting the
true intentions of people. The third densho is concerned with one's own
emotional states as well as those of other people.

Keep walking the path (忍)
- Soke Anshu
To live by the way of the ninja, is to choose conscious living in a world that prefers sleep.
.
It
is the decision to sharpen the self when comfort would dull it, to move
with intention when chaos pulls at the mind. The ninja does not seek
conflict, power, or recognition; they seek clarity. Every step, breath,
and silence becomes a mirror reflecting one question: Am I acting from
fear, or from truth?
.
The
warrior’s path teaches that strength without discipline is noise, and
discipline without compassion is emptiness. To walk this way is to
accept hardship as a teacher, failure as refinement, and patience as a
weapon sharper than any blade. The ninja learns to master the unseen
battles first such as: ego, distraction and impulse - because victory in
the outer world is meaningless if the inner world remains unconquered.
.
To
live as a ninja is to understand that invisibility is not hiding, but
humility; that adaptability is not weakness, but wisdom; and that true
power is the ability to act—or not act—in perfect alignment with the
moment. The warrior lives awake, aware that life itself is the dojo,
time is the opponent, and the self is both student and master.
.
In this way, the path is not about fighting others, but about becoming someone who no longer needs to fight themselves.
.
