Random Thoughts: Government Control, It will get worse: Ninjutsu Training, Self Defense & Violence

In this video I discuss my thoughts on the 2020 Tomo-ryu Shinobijutsu Annual Keiko Training Event, Government Control and Social Violence.  Here at the Budo Ryu Kai we train to protect ourselves and the ones that we love. To do this, as martial artist, we need to be aware of our surroundings, the things that are going on, as well as knowing the facts of those that are in control of the government.

Is Striking, Grappling or Concealed Carry Better For Self-Defense Training?

In this video I discuss a very common question; what is the most efficient and best way for me to train in self-defense?  So many times people want to know if they should be training in Striking or Grappling, or if they should become efficient at concealed carry. In this video I tackle each method and give you the pro’s and con’s, and tell you what your best option for training is…

Cruisin' Kansas City w/ Soke Anshu | Bansenshukai, Historical Ninjutsu Training & Ninja Martial Arts

In this video I give analogies on the topics of:
-          Power of the Book (Bansenshukai)
-          Supplements are not Substitutes (Ninjutsu Training)
-          Ancient Witchcraft Analogy (Ninjutsu Community)
-          Truth vs Fact (Ninjutsu Study)
-          Extreme Training for Extreme Results (Martial Arts / Self Defense)
.
This is a very lengthy video because I felt it was better for me to cover all of the angles of this one subject, rather than just approaching it from one angle. However, with that being said, I did leave out many things as well, and I can discuss those aspects in future videos.
.
To all of my students and supporters, please understand.  There is not substitute for training.  There is no book that will save your life and no magickal spell or magical pill that will protect you from violence. To protect yourself and the ones that you love, you need to train. Just as Miyamoto Musashi says: “The Way is in Training”.

Time To Reopn The Budo Ryu Kai Hombu Dojo | Kansas City Ninjutsu Training

Here is an update video regarding the reopening of the Budo Ryu Kai Hombu Dojo in Kansas City! This video is quite long and I do ramble a bit, but I do go over all of the information on the reopening of the Hombu Dojo.  There are things that I left out; as I felt it was better that I talk to my students 1 on 1 about some specific things. Also, there will be some things that we will need to change as we go through this process because this is a learning experience for all of us during these times.

How To Properly Apply Henka To Your Martial Arts Training | Ninjutsu, Ninpo, Bujutsu, Budo

In this video I discuss the method of how we utilize “henka” in our martial arts training at the Budo Ryu Kai.
.
Henka (変化) means: change; variation; alteration; mutation; transition; transformation; transfiguration; metamorphosis.
.
In this video I detail the image of a tree and how the seed represents the kata.  If you train correctly and nurture good skills, you will grow a solid foundation and have strong roots.  From that, the tree will grow branches, limbs and leaves.  This is the henka.  Just as the branches and limbs are the variations and changes from the seed/root, the henka are the variations / changes from the kata. From here, you get the fruit.  This is the useable materials for survival and nourishment.  This is where we derive the goshinjutsu (reality based self defense) from the variation to help with our martial arts self defense training.

Shurikenjutsu Kihon | Shuriken Basic Training Techniques | Ninja Martial Arts: Ninjutsu, Ninpo

In this video “Shurikenjutsu Kihon”, I go over the basic knowledge and introduction of the use, the training and techniques of the shuriken. I also discuss how the ninja would have used this particular “kakushi buki (hidden weapon) on covert stealth missions, such as night raids. I also teach its historical position within the koryu; as this “weapon”, is more historically attached to samurai bujutsu, than it is to historical ninjutsu.
.
Shurikenjutsu (手裏剣術) is a general term describing the traditional Japanese martial arts of throwing shuriken, which are small, hand-held weapons/blades used primarily by the Samurai in feudal Japan, such as metal spikes bō shuriken, circular plates of metal known as hira shuriken, and knives (tantō).
.
Shurikenjutsu was usually taught among the sogo-bugei, or comprehensive martial arts systems of Japan, as a supplemental art to those more commonly practiced such as kenjutsu, iaijutsu, sojutsu, bōjutsu, etc… and is much less prevalent today than it was in the feudal era.
.
