In this video, I discuss the purpose of martial arts
training and how to practice self-betterment. The purpose of training is very
deep and cannot be completely defined with a few simple words. Things such as
self-defense, self-protection, self-improvement, self-enlightenment, the ability
or protect the ones we love and the ability to fight for those that cannot
fight for themselves, are all good reasons towards the purpose of martial arts
training. Other reasons for the purpose
of training are: preserving the history & tradition of the ryuha,
discipline, honor, respect, integrity, preserving nature, connecting to nature,
finding balance of the mind, body and spirit as well as finding spiritual
refinement through the connection of nature. This idea of purpose is different
for everyone, but in the end, we all seek the same thing…

This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient
Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo)
and bujutsu (budo).
